We’re excited to have KASSIA MUSIC for the 2019-2020 Music at Redeemer concert season as our new ‘composers-led’ Ensemble-in-Residence.  KASSIA MUSIC  will perform a series of four concerts throughout the season, and each one will focus on a different era in classical music.  The concerts will include performances of works from well-known composers, and the group is passionate about showcasing less well known and neglected composers from those eras.

A thrilling part of KASSIA MUSIC’s work are the original compositions by members of the ensemble.  Taking the theme of each concert as a jumping off point, their work offers a ‘call-and-response’ through the musical ages.

Sam Post and Bernard Vallandingham, KASSIA MUSIC’s composer-performers, write music that aligns with classical roots and their compositional philosophy honors the melodic past. “A lot of contemporary music sometimes sounds like it’s trying to cast off classical music, but ours is more in line with it and has roots there,” says Post.

When asked why they like performing at Redeemer, the group remarked at how beautiful and resonant the space is, the wonderful receptions, and the welcoming community.
